Queen Anne Victorian
An impeccably restored Queen Anne Victorian combines the best of city convenience with country surroundings. The large city lot allows for three distinct garden room: the semi-public front garden viewable from the street; the private brick courtyard between the house and carriage house; and the curving rear lawn surrounded by flowering trees, shrubs and perennials. The courtyard had been completely paved over with asphalt, providing parking for the previous owner's medical practice. All the asphalt was removed to create a beautiful, functional brick courtyard which still provides vehicular access to the garage door via a double gate. The parking was moved off to the side and separated from the courtyard with a custom fence painted dark green. The circular brick terrace plays off the unique "beehive" detail on the back of the house. A small fountain on a raised bluestone terrace (sitting upon the old porch foundation) provides a pleasant backdrop of sound. The rear yard has a rustic fieldstone terrace, a large lawn for play and a myriad of new plants including dawn redwoods, dogwoods, redbuds and a stunning Full Moon Maple (Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium').
