Cloistered Carriage House
KLLA collaborated with Horst Buchanan Architects on the remodeled carriage house nestled in a quiet pocket off a dead-end street in Brookline, MA. A circular bluestone terrace, salvaged from the previous landscape, now sits in a field of Goshen stone paving which widens from the entry path to create an intimate terrace perfectly sited to capture the morning sun. Native plantings of soft greens and blues soften the stone path edges. A brick path with monolithic granite steps leads from the terrace through a meadow of perennials to the lower garden. Chipseal paving gives the driveway an informal feel and terminates at a permeable paver parking court at the new garage.
